Our History

The idea of establishing the East Africa Star University was born in 2011, developed and started to be implemented in April 2012. Its founders developed a strategic master plan whose full implementation will ensure that the University becomes a leading centre of excellence not only in Burundi but also in East Africa.

Currently, the founders have submitted a request to the Burundian Government through the Ministry of Higher Learning and Scientific Research, seeking authorization to run a number of academic programs. It is expected that the Ministry will provide an answer within a few months and the University shall hereafter launch its programs first by admitting students starting from August 2013, then by registering them and launching the first teaching exercise in January 2014.
